Give
Your Time!
The
American Red Cross would not exist without volunteers. Your
donations of time and talent give the Red Cross a strong
presence in the community. Every Red Cross program is supported
by volunteers. To volunteer, call the Red Cross at 704-982-0070
or E-mail us:

If you
would like to help, here is a List of Volunteer Opportunities
at the Red Cross
Volunteer
Opportunities
General
Office Worker - Duties include: telephoning, labeling
& mailings, copying, inventory, stamping materials, recording
volunteer hours, updating mailing lists, and making posters.
Service
to Military Families - Emergency situations must be
handled 24 hours a day. Duty Workers are trained to handle
communications between families here at home and military
personnel around the world. Duty Workers verify needs with
doctors, hospitals, funeral homes, etc. and send emergency
messages to Red Cross chapters and military bases all over
the world. Red Cross messages are the only messages accepted
by the military when a service person is needed at home.
Duty Workers also receive the first message of local disaster
situations and pass this information along to the Disaster
Team Captain on call for the week. Duty Workers carry beepers
after hours and on weekends so all needs are met immediately.
Beepers are furnished by the Red Cross.
Disaster
Services - Provide assistance with Mass Care: serve
refreshments to firemen, etc., or provide ongoing meals
in time of extreme disaster. Assist with Family Service,

when the need arises.

areas: Greeter- welcome and give required reading to the

Health
and Safety - Volunteer instructors are needed to train
individuals, families, and the general community to act
in emergency situations such as respiratory or cardiac problems,
sudden illness or injuries to infants, children, or adults.
Instructors will be trained by Red Cross Instructor Trainers.
